When the war in Ukraine started, I needed outlets for my anger and frustration. One of those outlets was the creation of Views from around the universe. Another one was to take pictures of dramatic cloud formations. That was in 2022.

Fast forward to 2024. Due to a shoulder injury and a double mastectomy, I couldn’t lift, let alone hold or move around with my camera for most of 2023 and way into 2024. After this long time, I was even reluctant to pick up the camera again, partly because it reminded me of how much I had overworked myself since 2016.

But when The end of all wars, planet one, the roots of war, took shape, I was reminded of the clouds images I had taken in 2022, and I thought clouds are a perfect motive for war and for hope, plus an easy way to get used to my camera again.

So, once again my camera got a place on the windowsill next to my balcony door, and whenever I saw an interesting clouds constellation, I took up the camera with increasing effortlessness and eased myself back into photography.

My main objective was to find motives for the book covers, but since a lot more images than I needed made it into the top list, I decided to present some of them here as a photo special.
